In 1976, Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) came into existence as a state university. Shri Fakruddin Ali Ahmed, the President of India in 1976, inaugurated this university on 11th September. The inspiration for the name is Acharya Nagarjuna, who was a great philosopher and preceptor. He is a source of inspiration for the masses in India and foreign countries due to his spiritual insight, clarity of perception and depth of thought.

The main campus of ANU is on the Chennai – Kolkata National Highway No. 5 in the midst of Vijayawada and Guntur. Presently, this university is an affiliating university connected with more than 450 colleges related to under-graduate, post-graduate and professional education.

Acharya Nagarjuna University has a Centre for Distance Education (CDE) that has several study centres that provide good-quality education at an affordable fee structure. The enrollment of this centre is through the CDE itself or the study centre selected by the student. This CDE has admission cycles twice in a year. Its examinations are also two times in a year in May and December. The study centres of the CDE arrange for weekend classes and practicals.

During the admission process, applicants should have the following documents:

  • The duly-filled application form with a passport size photograph
  • A copy of the payment receipt
  • Proof of age such as Std. X certificate, birth certificate issued by a competent authority or a passport copy
  • XII certificate for admission to under-graduate courses
  • While applying for post-graduate courses:
    • The provisional certificate or the original degree of graduation
    • Marksheet of the qualifying examination
    • Migration certificate, if applicable
  • A passport size photograph
