The Downtown Charity Trust had a strong desire to make quality education available at an affordable price for Indian citizens in the North-East of the country. So in 2010, this Trust founded the Assam Downtown University (ADTU), which is a multi-disciplinary university. The location of this university is Panikhaiti, Chandrapur, which is in the Guwahiti city. It is separated from Dispur, the capital city of Assam, by 12 kilometres. It is the first of its kind in this region, and modern methods and ideas are used to construct this state-of-the-art university.
ADTU is a unique mix of academic and professional excellence. It is based on a sturdy foundation of the experience of noted academicians and top industry personnel. This university is the biggest educational complex in Assam, which is evident from the facts that it shelters more than 8,000 students and more than 250 faculty members. The campus extends on an 80-acre stretch of land on the hills of Panikhaiti.
