Gauhati University

In 1998, establishment of the Gauhati University Centre for Distance and Online Education (GUCDOE) was done. Prior to this, this centre was known as Post Graduate Correspondence School (PGCS) and Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL). The prime motive behind establishing GUCDOE was that students who could not have admission through the traditional education mode should get opportunities to undergo good-quality higher education. Due to this, a large number of students who had to face issues, such as livelihood compulsion and finite number of seats in post-graduate classes, in conventional education method were accommodated in the distance education mode.

In May 2023, GUCDOE completed 25 years of success in the Education domain. At the beginning, this centre had 514 students and 6 courses. While tirelessly working on the mission of offering and expanding quality education to students, it has reached the milestone of 15,000 students undergoing many courses using the latest technologies. GUCDOE provides self-learning materials and counselling services to maximise learning opportunities. It has come up with the first e-learning portal of North-East India. It is also known for student support services, such as development of the Community Radio Centre named Radio Luit. While being committed to verify superior-quality education to the people, the voyage from a correspondence school to GUCDOE is not only a multiplication in quantity but also an upliftment in quality.

The admission process of GUCDOE is the following:

1. Open the URL: http://gucdoe.in/online_admission.
2. Click the CLICK HERE text to open the online application.
3. Click REGISTER.
   The Registration form is displayed.
4. The applicant enters all information in the Registration form.
5. Click REGISTER.
6. Click the Payment Link.
7. Click SUBMIT, and then click Pay Now.
8. Complete the payment process.
9. The applicant can download the receipt.
10. At the end of the application process, the applicant gets the completely-filled-up form.
11. The applicant must print this filled-up form.
12. The applicant must visit the study centre with this printout and original documents for verification.
