In 1957, the establishment of Kurushetra University was done on the southern bank of Brahmasarovar. Currently, it has a multi-faculty, well-developed campus that extends over 473 acres. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the First President of India, laid the foundation stone for this university. Kurukshetra University has a university college, university college of education and Directorate of Distance Education. In addition, it has 369 affiliated colleges and 45 teaching departments that are distributed across the following districts: Panchkula, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Jind, Hisar, Yamuna Nagar, Kaithal, Panipat and Ambala. The university has the Jawaharlal Nehru library, which consists of faculty house, students’ guest house, NSS centre, instrumentation USIC workshop, museum, computer centre, internet section of 200 nodes, rare manuscripts (15,328 in number), Indian and foreign journals (181 in number) and relevant books (more than 3,80,000 in number). This spacious university has 700 quarters for all types of staff members, business complex, health centre, school, 25 hostels (13 for females, 11 for males and 1 for foreign males), club for administrative staff, teachers’ club, a vast sports complex (having basketball courts, volleyball, tennis courts, swimming pool, stadium, gymnasium and playfields, among others), conference hall, senate hall and an auditorium that is centrally air-conditioned with a 70 mm projector and 2,500 seats.

Applcants should completely fill the admission form, sign the form, join the fees receipt and join the mandatory documents. These can be submitted to Kurushetra University by the online method or by sending the hard copies by courier. The checklist for the application process is the following:

  • The completely filled online admission form that has the applicant name as per the Standard X marksheet
  • Degree certificate of graduation (for PG courses) or provisional degree of graduation
  • Consolidated marksheets of graduation for all years and all semesters (for PG courses)
  • X certificate and marksheet
  • XII marksheet
  • Soft copy of passport size photograph
  • Photo ID proof such as Aadhaar card
  • Government gazette notification of name change (if the applicant has changed the name)
  • Online payment receipt of fees
  • For foreign citizens:
    • Government-issued ID card or passport copy
    • AIU equivalent of graduation degree for the PG programs
    • AIU equivalent of 10 + 2 level for graduation programs
