About

On 2nd March 1962, the Magadh University started operations. Under its umbrella, there were 2 constituent colleges, 7 post-graduation departments and 32 affiliated colleges. In 1992, there was a transfer of 17 constituent colleges to the V. K. Singh University (Arrah, Bhojpur), which was newly formed. Raj Bhawan, the State Government of Bihar and the UGC-DEB issued permissions to establish the Directorate of Distance Education under this university. The statutory bodies of the university has prepared and finalised the regulations of all courses of this Directorate. The Inter University Board (Bihar) has approved these regulations.

The Directorate of the Magadh University conducts distance learning courses in higher education for students of the entire country and the Bihar state in particular. Those who cannot get admission to traditional educational courses or study in conventional educational institutes as day boarders but have a strong desire to uplift their educational status can get admission to courses of this Directorate. These courses are job-oriented, innovative and satisfactory. The design of these courses is such that independent learners can complete them. The Directorate and its study centres provide support and study materials to students. To maintain the education quality at a superior level, students must display motivation and commitment.
