Nalanda Open University

In March 1987, the Nalanda Open University was launched as per an ordinance of the Government of Bihar. It is the singular university in Bihar that provides education only through distance education. In 1995, the Bihar Legislature passed the Nalanda Open University Act, which replaced the ordinance.

To apply to the distance BCA course, the applicant must have passed the intermediate examination with Mathematics as one of the papers. Those who have passed the I.A. or the I.Com. examination can also apply provided they have Mathematics as a paper of study at the intermediate level or they have completed the CIC course at the university.

To apply to the distance MCA course, the applicant must have passed the BCA course or a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics coupled with a Diploma or Certificate in Computing.

To apply to the distance PGDFM course, the applicant must be a graduate in any discipline.

To apply to the distance PGDMM course, the applicant must be a graduate in any discipline.

To apply to these courses, the admission process is the following:

1. Collect the admission form and prospectus through a Demand Draft of INR 450 from the sales counters of the university or by sending a Demand Draft of INR 400 by registered post in the name of Nalanda Open University, payable at Patna. This university does not accept postal orders or money orders.
2. Submit the completed admission form and photocopies of essential documents to the Registrar, Nalanda Open University either in person or by post.
