O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) was formed in 2009 as a non-profit university that focuses on research across many fields. JGU was started by its Founding Chancellor, Mr. Naveen Jindal, as a way to give back in honor of his father, Mr. O.P. Jindal. The number of teachers to students at JGU is one teacher for every nine students, and the teachers come from India and other places around the world.
JGU’s twelve schools focus on Law, Business & Management, International Affairs, Public Policy, Liberal Arts & Humanities, Journalism, Art & Architecture, Banking & Finance, Environment & Sustainability, Psychology & Counselling, Languages & Literature, and Public Health & Human Development. There are more than 9000 students and more than 1000 full-time faculty members who study and live on campus. Over the past 10 years, JGU has grown into an institution with full-time faculty from more than 43 countries, students from 20 countries, and partnerships with more than 350 leading institutions in 65 countries to bring international learning experiences to the Indian higher education system.
The prestigious QS World University Rankings 2023 put JGU as India’s number one private university. The QS Young University Rankings 2022 also put JGU in the Top 150 universities in the world that are under 50 years old. According to the QS Graduate Employability Rankings 2022, JGU is also one of the Top 500 Universities. The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2022 named the Jindal Global Law School as India’s best law school and the 70th best law school in the world. The Ministry of Education, Government of India, named JGU a “Institution of Eminence” in 2020.
