Vardhman Mahaveer Open University BBA (VMOU) was founded in 1987 as Rajasthan’s first open learning institution. On September 21, 2002, the Rajasthan government renamed it. The UGC Committee under Late Prof. G. Rama Reddy stated that “the distance system in Rajasthan is well established and has the potential of expanding into a full-fledged Open University.” This led to the creation of an open university in Rajasthan. The Institute of Correspondence Studies and Continuing Education Jaipur and the College of Correspondence Studies Udaipur merged to form VMOU (Vardhaman Mahaveer Open University) to strengthen and coordinate the state’s vast distance education resources and provide uniform, high-quality education to its citizens.
