MBA distance education is a postgraduate course pursued by students who have completed their bachelors. The UGC Regulations, 2018, allows the higher educational institutions to offer online and distance learning degree, diploma and certificate programs with the equivalent education standards as their regular classroom programmes.

Most of the institutes do not have an entrance examination for MBA distance education. However, some of the institutes do conduct an entrance test for their admission process. There are various entrance examinations for admissions in management programmes such as PGDM, MBA, Executive MBA and Distance MBA. For example, Symbiosis Centre for Online and Distance Learning (SCDL), Pune accepts scores of management exams like CAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA, etc. On the other hand, NMIMS Global Access School for Continuing Education offers admission based on the Bachelor’s degree qualification standards along with two years of job experience.
The skillset required for MBA distance education:
Pursuing an MBA distance education demands not only academic skills but also certain soft skills. Aspirants must be fully aware of some important skills that are required while pursuing a distance MBA degree.
